'BROKEN' & BREAKING NEWS
AFTER: Tony 'Velvet' Russell
This week I’m making some special announcements. The first is that I’m now sporting my ‘summer look’ - velvety rather than soft ‘n’ scruffy. I’ve lost my beard and moustache [that wasn’t meant to happen] but I expect they’ll soon grow back and become interestingly decorated with food and foliage again.

My next two announcements relate to the novel SMALL WHITE DOG which Moira Waugh and I have been writing together. Following extremely useful feedback from Daniel Clay (best-selling author of ‘Broken’), Moira and I have decided to follow his advice and change the name of our main character [who is my best friend Anthony Rover]. His new name is Anthony Woodgate and this will avoid the possibility of readers thinking that ‘Rover’ is the talking dog and ‘Tony’ the human and getting thoroughly confused!

BEFORE: scratch 'n' sniff
Moira and I are now embarking on final editing of the complete manuscript before we start submitting it to eager literary agents. While we are focusing on this important stage, I shall be writing posts once a fortnight instead of every week. If you enjoy my blog, please note that you can now subscribe by email [see below!]; otherwise, I shall still be linking new posts to Facebook and Twitter and emailing my Small White Dog circle of friends.

    1. Thank you, Mr KK. My smooth coat was rather a shock at first. I looked in the mirror and mourned my ruff - as I'm sure you would too. But I've lost some weight and feel svelte, light and fresh for the whole summer through.

    1. You have such a snappy, succinct way with words, Mr Mark, I've been wondering if you'd like to be my manager/promoter? There'll be heaps of book signing events, readings and tours lining up for me when SWD hits the major bookshops.

  5. Guten Tag from Germany where I'm exploring the wonderful sights and wonders of Schleswig-Holstein this weekend. Schleswig-H used to be part of Sweden once. Luckily they've totally forgotten about the tyranny and barbarism and are really friendly to Swedes. Especially if you mention you're from Schtockholm.
I like your new style, less hair really is more. It's something I've learned from empirical studies.

    1. I'm sure humans and dogs are eager to be friends with you wherever you are in the world, Mr T. Those photos of Schleswig-Holstein you directed me too are magnificent!

Regarding my smoother coat: I must say it is nice to get up in the morning and not have to bother with a brush and comb session.

  6. Bonjour Tony ....

Your personality has a lot of class today .... I like this "summer look", giving you a appearance under "Gavroche" ( little personage merry and resourceful born from the pen of "Victor Hugo" in his novel "Les Miserables").
Your congener "Choco" (who is black) looks like this when I mow his fur every 5-6 weeks .... and It also grousing, when to these moutaches are disappearing, but he is proud when it grows back (I admit than that, gives him a certain personality) ....
He will join me, and sends you all his friendships.
We will finally enjoy the sun, which will be on part here, this weekend.
    A soon.

    Dan ....

  7. Tons of compliments about your new smooth look! Suave.
However, I do love wisps, whiskers, wavy back hair and fuzzy outlines and hope to see it back come Autumn, or the Fall, in time to keep you cosy for winter. Huge good wishes for the Book (long awaited) and a simply great agent to snap it up! Fond hugs to you all - from a constant admirer.

    1. Hello, dear Ms Toni. Yes, I agree it will be good to have my Marcel waves back for the cooler months; also my smart ruff and sporran-like chest hair. I know that appeals to you in human males, along with wavy back hair. But that is our little secret!
