MILESTONE MOMENTS

Sitting by a milestone near my East Sussex home
It was late afternoon in central London on a chilly Saturday in August. We were a flagging party of seven in need of refreshments. We wanted tea (English Breakfast and mint), sandwiches and cocktails. Little did I realise that just around the corner in Kensington Court one of those ‘milestone moments’ in life was waiting for me.

Outside The Milestone Hotel
If, like me, you prefer older, solidly posh and comfortable London hotels, then you will love The Milestone Hotel. Of course the interior is very nice and cosy, as you’d expect from a 5 star boutique hotel, but it is the staff members who make The Milestone Experience special. They are fun and  friendly. They do everything they can to fulfil requests. They are tirelessly efficient. They are an example that should be followed by the serving staff in a restaurant we visited earlier that day (see my previous post!).

Mine's a White Russian, please!
We were all deeply satisfied with our food and drinks – excellent sandwiches are crucial to profound happiness and I will be discussing this in a future post – but what ultimately transported us to heavenly clouds of bliss was the unexpected addition of Chef’s Biscuits served with our tea. I don’t think any one of us will ever be quite the same again.

With friends in the comfy Stables Bar
When Moira and I have published our novel, Small White Dog, (which is in its third rewrite due to Moira’s weak plotting ability) we shall have a celebratory lunch at The Milestone. We may even decide to live there.

Do try it out for yourselves and let me know what you think!

  1. Milestone highly recommended. We were in much needed refreshments and we weren't disappointed.
Tony I hope when you move to the Milestone it will be the Penthouse suite, as you'll need plenty of space for visitors.

Great company, super pics and wow I remember those biscuits alright! Thanks everyone - it was a lovely occasion celebrating Susi's birthday and Moira's&Tony's visit to the UK, Teens desire to lure the recipe from the Chef, and Sheree and Alan's elegant wit and style ! XX

    4. Hello Ms Susi and Ms Toni. Yes, it will probably be the Penthouse suite. I rather fancy having a bathroom like M's in 'Quantum of Solace' (whatever that may mean). I don't like baths but friends will enjoy using it. You two are welcome any time.

  2. Dear Tony, thank you very much for the recommendation. Next time I am around I know where to go. One question I do have here. How is the staff handling humans? Do they get a trunk with fresh water? Is there a little space outside where the can do their ....you know what?

Thanks for your answer in advance.

    1. Hello Mr Heiko! How nice of you to read and respond to my post. Yes, humans are treated well at The Milestone. They're brought a wide selection of things to eat and drink. I am not sure what arrangements are made for humans to relieve themselves. When they say, "Excuse me," I don't like to spy on them (although I'd rather like to).

    1. Thank you, Mr Mark. I try to be fair in my reviews but I can't praise The Milestone Hotel enough. I admit it freely. It's like a second home to me now. I look forward to meeting you in the Stables Bar for an aperitif in the very near future.

  4. You've made me envious of your delightful world travels, Tony. If I ever hop on a plane, I'll use your excellent reviews as my travel guide. Thank you... I shall dream of Chef’s Biscuits until then...

    1. You can't do better than be guided by me in most things, Ms Kara. Chef's Biscuits are truly special but so is everything at The Milestone. And I'm not being paid to say that!

      With very great affection
